JUNE 2010 : We've been
having fun a lot of fun at Eastern Creek lately. We did find ourselves
swapping between the wets and the slicks at our most recent event
last week on 27th May, but the wet conditions didn't stop Mal
and Jose (Fernandez) going side-by-side through turn one a few
times. With KB (Kevin Burton) hot on their heels in the ex-Alan
Jones Falcon. Mal of course insists on making gestures out the
window at the other drivers when he's in front. Naturally some
customers had suitably stunned looks on their faces. That's what
we like to see! Our new video setup looks good too - we now show
various instruments on your customer DVDs - speedo, G-Force, track
map, plus of course the face-cam and forward-cam. It's all part
of the Supercar Experience!

MAY 2010 : Mal's just back
from the Nurburgring 24-hour race in Germany. His seventh appearance
in a row. It's a sad thing (or maybe not) but the big pink Aussie
Commodore Supercar has as big a fan base in Germany as is does
here. Just a sign of the times I guess. But this year Mal didn't
take the Commodore, which wasn't back from Dubai in time. So just
for a change he drove the SR Motorsport Subaru Impreze STi, which
was quite a little rocketship, and within 30 seconds a lap of
the Commodore's times. With regular drivers Mike Rimmer and Peter
Venn, Mal finished 39th overall (from 209 starters). Not too shabby!

NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2009
: The time is rapidly approaching when Oran Park will shut its
gates. We will miss the place! The Supercar Experience obviously
needs to use other venues, and for the moment that means returning
to Eastern Creek Raceway as the primary, but not necessarily only,
venue in 2010. We're kicking off with a bang and some exciting
specials at the March 10th event, so make sure you book early.
Eastern Creek does provide some advantages over our much-loved
Oran Park, namely - a longer ride, much longer straight, faster
speeds everywhere and 12 corners per lap rather than just 7. We'll
have to change our diff ratios! We will still be running the cars
side-by-side and nose-to-tail, so we're sure you're going to enjoy
the ride. Make sure you book early!
|
NOVEMBER 2008 : Plans are
taking shape for Mal's return to Dubai for the 24-hour race there
on January 10th/11th 2009. The container is packed, the drivers
are getting excited and we're looking forward to another visit
to the Arabian Gulf. Maybe Mal will get a start in the Chevrolet
Lumina ("SS Commodore to you and me") celebrity/invitational
production car race again. Actually he may not get an invite -
he cleaned up last time and possibly put a few noses out of joint.
But the big V8 Supercar Commodore always attracts plenty of attention,
and will be up against the cream of Europe's crop. No doubt there
will be press releases to follow.
